Mosaic C – The Two-Carpet Mosaic

This floor covering has two parts, and its geometric compositions are particularly complex. The primary, square mosaic features a large 3.6-metre-diametre circle and, in the corners, four squares filled with knot and loop patterns. An rectangular extension featuring a network of circles overlaying a grid pattern, takes up one of the room's shorter sides, as if to mark the site for a bed. The Syrian style of this mosaic is quite characteristic.
